Question Answered

Bulbs are guaranteed at a certain hour of bulb life, however, does this fall under your guarantee? Is it bulb hours or months or whichever comes first? How can you tell when you need to replace the bulb? Right now it's at 4,000 hours, but it's still displaying the image and no warning has been displayed on the screen. The bulb is in non-eco mode. Asked by Michael M. On Dec 15, 2023

All bulbs and modules come with a 180 Day warranty. We offer our MyProjectorLamps guarantee based on 180 days since not all customers use their bulbs for the same time. For example, some customer might run a bulb 24 hours a day whereas others might run it 2 hours a day. Running a lamp for longer periods without break can reduce the total hours of life, however some customers have no choice but to run their projector (and lamps) for long periods. This is why bulbs are NOT guaranteed for a certain number of hours. You will know when to replace to the bulb for a few reasons. When a message appears on your screen saying to replace the lamp. When the bulb dies during use or simply will not turn on. And when you are not happy with level of brightness. The warning message to replace the lamp is based on a lamp timer that is counting on the projector. This timer is supposed to be reset each time you replace a lamp. Each projector is different and the designated number of hours will vary when the message appears. After the message appears, the projector might also give an additional allocated number of hours before auto shutoff to prevent a lamp from blowing up. Eco mode usually runs the lamp at a lower wattage (brightness) to maximize the total number of hours before a lamp becomes too dim for enjoyment.

Question Answered

Is it advisable to purchase the lamp and module rather than just the lamp? Asked by Tony F. On Nov 24, 2018

We always recommend to purchase the lamp with module. It is the way the manufacturer of your projector intended the lamp to be changed and is the easiest way to replace the lamp. The lamp in module is a plug and play option, you remove the old lamp and slide the new one. There is no room for error. Installing the barelamp is best left for trained audio-visual professionals.

Is there a guaranteed lamp life? The original bulb is 2000 lamp hours. Asked by Tim W. On Feb 06, 2020

Yes and no. Yes, there is a guarantee that you will get 2000 lamp hours on bright mode and 5000 hours Eco mode. But it depends on if you leave the bulb in hot or cool room or use it for long periods of time. Leaving it in a hot room and using it for long periods will increase the lamp hours.

Question Answered

What´s the difference between the lamps LMP-H201 & LMP-H202? They seem to be the same . Asked by Pablo P. On Oct 20, 2023

The LMP-H201 and the LMP-H202 have different Lumens. The LMP-H201 has 1,000 Lumens, while the LMP-H202 has 1,700 Lumes. The lamps also have different lamp lives ,which are the same 2,000 hours, but in eco mode the first lamp has 3,000 hours. The second lamp has 5,000 hours in eco mode.

Answered by MyProjectorLamps Support On Oct 20, 2023

How would you know if you need to replace the original lamp on a Sony VPL-HW55ES 1751 projector even if it still shows the bright light? Does it send a message to replace the bulb? If you mean the Sony VPL-HW55ES, then you can check the lamp timer. The lamp hours for Sony VPL-HW55ES projector's lamp has 2,000 hours or 5,000 in eco mode. If the lamp timer is over 2,000 or 5,000 you can replace the lamp. The lamp timer is on information menu of your projector. If the LAMP/COVER indicator light flashes red with a epetition rate of 3, then the lamp has reached the end of its useful lifespan. Replace the lamp if that light is flashing. Another reason it's flashing red is the lamp has reached a high temperature, so wait until the lamp cools, and then turn on the power again.

Question Answered

Is there a difference between the original housing and your in house brand? Do you sell the bulbs only without housing if one wants to swap? Eco mode saves bulb life, but how much does it decrease overall performance/brightness? Asked by Michael M. On Nov 05, 2023

No, there is no difference between the original housing and our MyProjectorLamps branded housing. The two modules or housings are of similar quality. We do not sell the bare bulbs for the projector, the Sony HW50 on our website, but you can contact our customer support line: 1-888-785-2677 to see if they sell any bare bulb lamps or you email our Canadian sales team: sales@myprojectorlamps.ca for information. Eco mode will lower the voltage for your bulb and it will extend your lamp's operational time, but it may also lower the brightness. Using eco mode may reduce your lamp life. The lamp life will increase by 50 or 20 percent, but it may shorten the lamp life. It all depends on the environment you put the bulb and projector in and how much you use the bulb and projector. You may also get a poorer picture quality.
